So you need options for daycare and boarding?
We’re here to help.
In order to uphold the highest safety standards possible, all our dogs are required to successfully complete our daycare evaluation and trial day of daycare before they can attend daycare and boarding with The Board Hound. The evaluation and trial day are very important for the well-being of your dog, our staff, and all other dogs in our facility. This process gives us the opportunity to get to know your dog and for your dog to get to know us while enjoying all that group socialization has to offer. During the evaluation we are able to establish a behavioral profile for your dog. This profile is used to determine the appropriate play group and daycare plan for your dog and to ensure that our daycare and boarding environment will be a positive experience. We understand that behavior profiles are always adjusting as each dog builds confidence, learns the rules of socialization, and gets comfortable in a group play setting. As a dog’s behavior changes, we are able to adjust their personalized plan for daycare as needed.
Our evaluations and consultations are always 100% free and include the trial day of daycare at no additional cost.
Our Old Town location’s scheduled open date is September 3rd 2019, and we are currently accepting new client paperwork and scheduling evaluations beginning in September. Our Shirlington location is also accepting new client paperwork and scheduling evaluations for after Labor Day. Unfortunately, we are not able to schedule any additional evaluations before September 3rd.
Here’s how to get started:
- Download, review, and complete the required registration forms.
- Email your completed registration forms, and a copy of your dog’s vaccine record to firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also fax them to 866-924-1480.
- After submitting your complete application, please contact us to schedule your evaluation (if you don’t hear from us first!).
- Once we have scheduled a specific date and time for your evaluation, you will receive an emailed confirmation for your appointment.
Please note that when we are accepting new clients for daycare and boarding, we have very limited space for new-dog evaluations & consultations – and they do fill up fast! It is recommended to submit your completed application to us at least 3-4 weeks in advance of your boarding or daycare need. Also, if you have an upcoming boarding need, please submit those dates to us with your registration paperwork so that we can make sure we have space for the specific dates requested.
Choose an evaluation option:
The Drop-off Evaluation is our most convenient, and most popular, evaluation option for dogs over the age of 16 weeks. We offer the flexibility of a Drop-off Evaluation in order to accommodate any busy schedule. Drop-off Evaluations are typically scheduled between 7 am and 9 am Monday through Thursday after we have received your required registration paperwork, including vaccines. When you drop your dog off for your evaluation, he will need to stay for a minimum of 4 hours. However, you can always leave him for a longer trial day at no additional charge. There is also no requirement to be present for his evaluation. During the initial evaluation, your dog will be introduced to several staff members as well as other dogs under the supervision of a manager. After which, your pup will be placed in an appropriate playgroup according to his play style, energy level, and comfort level.
The Daycare Consultation option can be accommodated between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with an appointment. The Daycare Consultation consists of a one-on-one evaluation, before scheduling a trial day of daycare. This option is best suited for dogs with any behavioral concerns, special needs, or if you just aren’t sure how your dog will be around other dogs. For any dog 10 – 16 weeks of age, we will require the Daycare Consultation.
Requirements for your dog to participate in the evaluation, daycare, and boarding
All dogs must have up-to-date Rabies and Distemper vaccines before scheduling an evaluation or consultation. Bordetella and Canine Influenza vaccines are not required, but recommended. Your dog must be over the age of 10 weeks, and all dogs over the age of 6 months must be spayed or neutered. All puppies under 16 weeks of age must have their first two rounds of Distemper. Rabies is required by the time your dog is 16 weeks of age.
